Established

Minghsin University of Science and Technology (MUST) has long been dedicated to cultivating semiconductor professionals and actively responding to the needs of national industrial development and technological advancement. Through sustained efforts, the University has progressively established a comprehensive semiconductor education system.
In response to the Ministry of Education’s “Regional Industry Talent and Technology Cultivation Base Program,” MUST was selected as one of the first six universities and seven industry-academia collaboration bases approved nationwide. The University received NT$90 million in funding from the Ministry of Education and contributed an additional NT$30 million in matching funds, totaling NT$120 million, to establish the “Semiconductor Equipment, Facilities, and Inspection Talent Development Base.” The base is designed to cultivate professionals in semiconductor equipment development, maintenance, advanced packaging, testing and verification, quality management, and facilities engineering, while providing students with an industry-oriented learning environment that bridges academic training and practical applications.
Through close collaboration among academia, industry, and government, MUST has also received strong and continuous support from numerous semiconductor enterprises. Advanced equipment and technical resources have been donated to the University, enabling students to gain hands-on experience with the latest industry processes, equipment, and management practices during their studies. This commitment reflects the University’s educational philosophy of integrating theory with practice and achieving seamless industry-academia alignment in talent cultivation.
Over the years, MUST has systematically established a comprehensive semiconductor talent development pathway. Major milestones include the construction of a semiconductor packaging and testing production line, the establishment of the first College of Semiconductor Technology within Taiwan’s technological and vocational education system, the launch of the nation’s first “2+2N Semiconductor Packaging and Testing Elite Program” under the Industry-Academia Collaboration Initiative, and the establishment of Taiwan’s only Semiconductor Packaging Engineer Certification Examination Center in cooperation with the Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs. These achievements have enabled the University to cultivate highly qualified professionals with both strong theoretical foundations and practical expertise. In addition, MUST has taken the lead in promoting professional semiconductor certification programs and issued the first Semiconductor Packaging Engineer Certificate, demonstrating the effectiveness of technical and vocational education in preparing industry-ready talent.
Building upon its solid educational foundation and outstanding achievements, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of the Doctoral Program in Semiconductor Technology. This milestone signifies the extension of MUST’s semiconductor talent cultivation system to the highest level of academic education and represents a significant achievement in the University’s development history. Looking ahead, the Program will continue to integrate industry needs, advanced technological research, and international development trends to cultivate high-level semiconductor professionals with innovative research capabilities, interdisciplinary integration skills, and global competitiveness. Through these efforts, MUST remains committed to fulfilling the mission of technical and vocational education and contributing to the sustainable development of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry.
