Educational Goals

Ph.D. Program in Semiconductor Technology at Minghsin University of Science and Technology are designed to address the rapid global development of the semiconductor industry and the growing shortage of advanced technical professionals. The program aims to cultivate high-level specialists who possess both strong theoretical foundations and practical engineering capabilities. Centered on the needs of the semiconductor industry chain, the curriculum emphasizes key areas such as equipment development, process integration, maintenance engineering, packaging and testing, quality control, and facilities engineering. It seeks to equip students with interdisciplinary integration abilities, problem-solving skills, and innovative research and development competencies, enabling them to directly meet industry demands and become internationally competitive professionals in semiconductor technology and management.

 

Minghsin University of Science and Technology has long been dedicated to cultivating semiconductor talent and continuously building a comprehensive semiconductor education system. Its development includes establishing a “Semiconductor Packaging and Testing Pilot Production Line,” founding the first “Semiconductor College” within Taiwan’s technical and vocational education system, launching the “Industry–Academia 2+2N Semiconductor Packaging and Testing Elite Program,” and collaborating with industrial authorities to establish Taiwan’s only “Semiconductor Packaging Engineer Certification Examination Center.” These milestones have gradually formed a tightly integrated industry–academia talent cultivation model. At the end of 2021, the university also issued its first “Semiconductor Packaging Engineer” certification, marking the formal alignment of educational achievements with industry standards.

 

Building on this foundation, Minghsin University of Science and Technology has further strengthened its academic research capacity and industry collaboration mechanisms. The establishment of the “PhD Program in Semiconductor Technology” was approved by the Ministry of Education, representing a major milestone in the university’s 56-year history. The launch of the doctoral program signifies a transition from technical talent cultivation to a new stage of advanced research and innovation leadership.

 

The program also emphasizes cultivating students’ systematic thinking, forward-looking technological vision, and international mobility. Students are expected to conduct in-depth research and innovative applications in areas such as semiconductor materials, solid-state electronic devices, advanced system packaging, and integrated circuit design. Through industry–academia collaboration and hands-on training, students will be able to solve real-world process and engineering challenges while enhancing their capabilities in systems integration and project management.

 

Overall, this program is committed to developing high-level semiconductor professionals with strong research ability, engineering practice competence, and leadership potential in the industry. These efforts support national semiconductor strategic development and strengthen Taiwan’s critical position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
