The school's predecessor, "Minghsin Industrial College", was founded in 1966. In 1993, the five-year and two-year college of business management were added, and the name was officially changed to "Minghsin Industrial and Commercial College". The predecessors’ efforts have continued to expand, and gradually have the scale of a university organization. In July 1997, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was restructured into a "Minghsin Technology College" with a five-year college attached. In August 2002, due to its outstanding school performance and excellent conditions, it was approved to be upgraded to "Minghsin University of Science and Technology" to highlight the school's characteristics and benefit the development of the core value of "pragmatic and practical" higher technical and vocational education.

Based on this, considering the changes in the internal and external environment, aiming at the affiliation of the existing departments (degree programs), institutes, centers, and colleges, to coordinate and integrate educational resources, the "work" and "management" are now established, "Service Industry", "Humanities and Design" and other four colleges, the scale of sustainable school development.
