About us

In August 2002, the school was upgraded to "Ming Hsin University of Science and Technology" with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In order to meet the national information technology development and industrial needs, the Department of Information Engineering was established in 2005 and recruited four-year students in two classes in the daytime program. It started to enroll night-school students in 2006. The enrollment structure is simple, and currently includes two aforementioned school systems. With the demand for high-level talents in the industry, the Graduate School of Electrical Engineering set up a staff group in 2009, entering a new stage of cultivating graduate students and R&D talents. To cooperate with the manpower required for training in the industrial parks from 2014 to 2017, a special class was organized for the industry-academia cooperation of Ritek Corporation Company. In addition, since 2014, it has cooperated with Longyan College in Fujian Province to promote cross-strait communication and exchanges. Every year, a group of junior university students come to the department for exchange, which has been maintained until now. Moreover, in line with the government's new southbound policy, a class of Vietnamese overseas Chinese students was recruited in 2017.

The Chinese Institute of Engineering Education (IEET), a professional assessment organization recognized by the Ministry of Education, is responsible for implementing the certification of engineering technology education in Taiwan. The graduated students from the engineering technology-related institutes in the IEET-accredited University can be recognized as those who have possessed the essential ability when applying for a multinational professional engineer certificate. At present, 15 countries around the world, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and South Korea, have recognized the IEET certification system. In addition, the IEET certification is recognized not only by multilateral agreements such as Asia-Pacific engineers and international engineers, but also as the benchmark for evaluating the academic qualifications of engineers. When the engineering profession is rapidly pulsating with the pace of globalization, the quality of engineer education and whether engineering professionals have the ability to move internationally will be important indicators for testing a country's competitiveness. For professional disciplines such as engineering technology education, accreditation is an indispensable task. The purpose of participating in the accreditation of school departments is to provide a self-verification opportunity for departments to confirm teaching directions and talents through a third-party impartial organization. This cultivation perspective is consistent with the goals set by the department, and at the same time reminds the department what should be strengthened, so as to further improve the educational results and to pursue the cultivation of outstanding talents.

Since its establishment, the Department of Information Engineering has continued to improve its curriculum design and teaching and has maintained the interaction with academia and industry to guide the development of the department. It has indeed followed the direction of national talent cultivation, and cultivated students with multi-thinking, international vision and lifelong learning ability; the department passed the engineering education certification (EAC) in 2010, 2013, and 2016, and passed the information education (CAC) engineering certification in 2019.
