Introduction

Semiconductor manufacturing is a national strategic industry for Taiwan. The output value of the nation’s semiconductor industry amounts to 3 trillion NT dollars. The output values of both foundry and package/testing have taken a leading position in the world. With the advent of 5G, automotive electronics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Taiwan is expected to continue to be a leader in the global supply chain because of its strong foundation in the semiconductor industry, the competitive force of its core technology and its being a main supplier in the industry’s supply chain. In accordance with national policies, the new Semiconductor School in Minghsin University of Science and Technology (MUST) was established in 2021 to provide high-quality practical talents for the industry. This school includes the original departments related to semiconductors from the College of Engineering, including the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Applied Materials Science and Technology, and the recently established Semiconductor and Electro-Optical Technology Department. In addition, the Ph.D. Program in Semiconductor Technology was added in 2023.
