About

Introduction

Semiconductor is a national strategic industry for Taiwan. The output value of Taiwan's semiconductor industry is more than NT$3 trillion. Among them, both the output values of foundry and package/testing are at the world's leading position. With the advent of 5G, automotive electronics, and artificial intelligence, Taiwan is expected to continue to be a leader in the global supply chain. In accordance with national policies, a new "Semiconductor School" in Minghsin University of Science and Technology is established in 2021 to provide high-quality practical talents for industry. This school includes the original departments related to semiconductors under the College of Engineering, including Departments of Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Applied Materials Science and Technology, and Semiconductor and Electro-Optical Technology.

Education Mission

All departments of the school have passed the engineering education certification (IEET). The goal of education is to cultivate engineering professionals in the semiconductor industry with both technological and humanistic qualities. The focus of teaching is to enhance students' professional research and practical ability, enhance general education and ethics, cultivate scientific and technological talents with an international outlook.

Education Features

  1. Implement the integrity of the technical and vocational education system to promote industrial upgrading.
  2. Develop an integrated engineering technology college to train professional and technical personnel.
  3. Cultivate high-tech engineering talents and innovative integration capabilities required by the country in the 21st century.
  4. Teaching focus: professional research and practical ability, general education and ethics, and cultivating scientific and technological talents with an international outlook.
  5. Emphasize the spirit of "knowledge and ability, unity of learning and application".
  6.

Faculty and Facility

The Department of Electrical Engineering originally had two major directions: power electronics and communication control, and the future will focus on automatic control and electromechanical integration; the original development direction of the Department of Electronic Engineering is integrated circuit layout, semiconductor package and testing, and microcontroller applications; the Department optoelectronic engineering is synchronized renamed " Department  of Semiconductor and Electro-Optical Technology ", focusing on semiconductor manufacturing technology and optoelectronic engineering; Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Technology will be renamed " Department of Applied Materials Science and Technology " simultaneously, in addition to the original chemical engineering, specializing in semiconductor materials application and analysis testing. The school will also apply for a "Doctoral Program in Semiconductor Technology" to cultivate high-level scientific and technological talents for the industry.
