Introduction
College of Engineering has followed government policy, economic development, and the trend to provide high quality graduates for the country. Located in the most prosperous, high technology and science area in the country, the mission of the College of Engineering is to meet the needs of industry and thus to perform the role of a human resource provider. All departments and research centers collaborate to offer broad-based instruction and education service. It is ideally suited to educate tomorrow's engineers, to support advanced research for the industry and to encourage technical literacy. And we also aim to build up a close connection between the college and the industry. The education in the College of Engineering highlights the ability to improve professional engineering and the competence for modern techniques. The general and ethic education are also underway to strengthen our students in every aspect. Through a synergy of teaching, the College of Engineering seeks to educate a distinguished cadre of engineers in technology and applied science, and to promote preeminence at the cutting edge science.
Characteristic Development
College of Engineering is establishing its infrastructure in meeting the fast-moving stream of economic development and requirement of industrial sector, besides continuing the development as planned by each department at the previous Ming-Hsin college stage. Hence the following tasks are underway:
1. Recruiting teaching staffs with characteristic expertise and industrial experience.
2. Setting up teaching and research facilities.
3. Developing the targeting characteristics for breeding the professional engineers required by the relevant industry.
Furthermore, the interdepartmental integration according to the industrial
needs and departmental characteristics with courses planning as well as research center establishing, will provide the necessary R&D technical services to the industrial sector. This lays the foundation for reaching the goal of cooperation between industry and College of Engineering. Especially in 2003,“the “Optoelectronic TFT monitor curriculum” program has been well established.
In addition, for further promoting the quality level of teaching, each department (and graduate school) will pursue the certificate of Engineering Education and add the courses in the fields of “Green Technology” and “System Engineering” etc. They are all specially designed for the college of Engineering in realizing the following goals:

Education Features
Following the long-term plan to develop multidisciplinary programs in engineering fields, the College of Engineering is also in harmony with the development of economy and the demands from the industry. As part of the best technical and vocational universities in Taiwan, the College of Engineering strives to provide the best in both undergraduate and postgraduate education through faculty with industry experiences and advanced equipment.
It is expected that the innovative programs and expanding faculty are energizing the disciplines and paving the way for important interdisciplinary service for industry.
Currently established programs are: Opto electric Flat Panel Display Program, Green Technology Program, Radio Frequency Identification Program and Software Engineering Program, the Digital TV Program, Systemitical Chips Design Program accumulated to six special Programs. Also, all of the programs offered by the College of Engineering are accredited programs. This ensures the quality of engineering education, based on criteria that are substantially equivalent to those adopted by the Washington Accord signatories. The education in the College of Engineering is aiming toward being professional, international, and practical.
